Selling Grandmas Old Jewelry
My husband came up with a great idea of how to start a college fund for our son. He was given everything that belonged to his grandmother, when she passed away. There was a lot of jewelry that came with that. He is quite sure that she would be happy to see us selling jewelry to pay for her great grandson’s college education. I know that I will never wear any of it and so just letting it sit and collect dust seems just silly. I am all for selling jewelry that was given to us.
I told my parents about what we were planning to do and they thought that it was a very smart idea. I guess that with the price of precious metals these days, lots of people are cashing in on selling old out of date pieces.
When the jeweler made us an offer, I was very shocked. I never knew that you could get that much money for selling old jewelry. Had we known that we were going to get such a big amount, we might have done this a long time ago. At least now we know that our sons first year of college should be completely covered, thanks to his great grandmother.
